Want to compare what you're paying to "actual" acquisition cost?

Here's the link to the site for Alabama's actual acquisition cost (AAC).  The AAC will vary from pharmacy to pharmacy due to a variety of factors such as volume discounts, special deals, source (e.g., direct, wholesaler) and pharmacy type.  Yes, mail-service pharmacies get better deals on generic medications.  Purchasers at mail-service pharmacies have told me their discounts typically exceed AWP - 95%.  Keep in mind that AWP is no better than a "sticker price."

Our most recent analysis showed a client paying an average of AAC plus 18.1%.  This equaled a profit margin of $15.80 per prescription.
